Heartburn is the most common symptom of acid reflux
or GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease or "I Eat Too
Much Acidic Food Dis-Ease"), which is the third most
prevalent acidic condition in the U.S., affecting
more than 19 million people.
Most acid sufferers describe heartburn as a burning
sensation just behind the sternum, and other symptoms
may include hoarseness, coughing, changes in the voice,
earache, nausea, and problems with sinusitis. Heartburn
doesn’t always indicate GERD, but heartburn more than
once a week raises a red flag of an over-acidic
condition.
When GERD is diagnosed, it means there is mucosal damage
caused by abnormal acid reflux in the esophagus, usually
caused by changes in the barrier separating the esophagus
from the stomach. If left untreated, constant acid
exposure can trigger a disorder called Barrett’s
esophagus, a premalignant condition which can develop
into esophageal cancer. Roughly ten percent of people
who get medical attention for acid heartburn are found
to have Barrett’s esophagus or "I Eat Too Much Acidic
Food Dis-Ease."
Treatments for GERD are NOT resolved with prescription
drugs and over-the-counter medications. They only treat
the symptoms. Making lifestyle and dietary changes
to an alkaline lifestyle and diet will prevent and
reverse the symptoms of acid reflux in just a few weeks
and sometimes a few days. If you would like to avoid
medication, avoid surgery, and also avoid elevating
your bed so you can sleep at night without fear rolling
off onto the floor at 3:00 a.m., there are several things
you can do that help prevent acid reflux:
1. Get off your "acid" and start exercising. I
recommend low impact exercising for at least 1 hour
daily, such as rebounding, swimming, cycling, whole
body vibration, jogging, weight lifting and dry
heat infared sauna.

2. Eliminate all acidic beverages such as alcohol
coffee, tea, soda drinks, fruit juices and start
drinking alkaline water throughout the day. I also
recommend drinking some salt water first thing in
the morning and last thing at night using 1 scoop
of the pHour salts.

3. Take pHlush and puripHy to clear the alimentary
canal of acidic protein, sugar, mucous, bacteria,
yeast and parasites.

4. In order to keep the esophagus-stomach barrier
strong, don’t smoke tobacco or pot.
5. Eliminate all acidic foods from animal proteins,
dairy, high sugar fruits, vinegar, corn, peanuts,
mushrooms, soy sauce, and processed salt. Eat
alkaline foods from green fruits and vegetabels.
6. Eat less more often rather then more less often.
Eat smaller meals, and don’t eat close to bedtime.
7. Stay away from raw or processed chocolate as
well as sweeteners including the natural ones such
as agave and stevia.
8. Take in the four foods groups daily as defined
by Dr. Young, including chlorophyll, oil, water
and salt.
