The Truth About Calcium

Calcium is a major alkaline buffer of metabolic and dietary acids and thus helps to maintain the delicate alkaline pH of the blood, tissues and organ fluids.  It also helps regulate processes involved in a normal heart beat, muscle contraction and hormone release. It's involved in blood clotting and nervous system function. Primarily, however, calcium provides strength to bones and teeth. When bones lack calcium they become porous and more likely to fracture. A diet lacking calcium puts you at risk for conditions such as osteoporosis.

Plant-based alkalizing foods contain significantly more calcium per 100 grams than FORTIFIED cow's milk:

1) Stinging Nettles (481 mg);

2) Cumin seeds (931 mg);

3) Chia seeds, dried (631 mg);

4) Flax seeds (255 mg); figs;

5) Turnip greens (190 mg);

6) Kale (135 mg);

7) Hazelnuts (114 mg);

8) Garlic (181 mg);

9) Dried savory (2,132 mg),

10) Almonds (264 mg);

11) Collard greens (203 mg);

12) Parsley (138 mg);

13) Sesame seeds (1,160 mg);

14) Hijiki sea vegetables (1,400).

The Truth is, 100 grams of fortified cow's milk contain only about 113 mg calcium and cannot be absorbed properly into the blood and tissues.

Contrary to popular belief, animal milk does not promote strong bones, as the dairy industry would have you believe. Dairy products are in fact the number one cause of osteoporosis and breast cancer because of its high concentration of lactose sugar that can also break down to galactose, glucose and lactic acid.  Casein, the milk protein, is a highly toxic carcinogen and is acidic to the blood and tissues. Animal milk (and other animal products) are highly acidic, so they cause bone and muscle loss and breakdown body cells leading to a cancerous condition, including breast, uterine, ovarian and prostate cancer. A natural, alkaline raw/mostly raw, whole-food plant based diet (alkalarian vegan), on the other hand, is highly alkaline and will provide alkalinzing elements such as sodium, magnesium, potassium and calcium to help maintain the alkaline design of the body.
