Chicken Is Foul!

97 Percent of Chicken Contains Potentially Harmful Bacteria

ISTOCK/THINKSTOCK
In super-scary news, almost all of the chicken breasts tested in a recent analysis conducted by Consumer Reports contained disease-causing bacteria. Terrifying, right? According to Dr. Robert O. Young, "chickens do not have a urinary tract system and therefore absorb their own urine making them highly acidic from absorbing their own urine - but thats what makes them juicing and full of bacteria."
Back in July, the organization collected 316 samples of chicken breasts from major grocery stores in 26 different states. Some were organic, but others weren’t. Researchers tested each sample for six different types of harmful bacteria, including salmonella and E. coli. Shockingly, almost none of the pre-packaged chicken breasts were bacteria-free—not even those from major meat companies like Perdue and Tyson.
It’s scary, yes, but you can prevent yourself from consuming these harmful bacteria by preparing and cooking raw meat correctly. You can start by learning about these seven ways to make meat safer.
